Syro Malabar Youth Movement (SMYM) is the official youth movement of the Syro Malabar Catholic Church, which is the second-largest sui juris Eastern Catholic Church after the Ukrainian Church and the largest of Saint Thomas Christian (Nazrani) denominations with almost 5 million believers including 1.6 million catholic youth spread all over the world. The Laity Commission of the Syro Malabar Catholic Church took initiatives since 2011 to connect various youth movements within our church and to bring them together on a single platform. Thus, SMYM, the official Youth Movement of the Syro Malabar Church, officially rolled out on the 30th day of August 2014. The SMYM is in its infancy but is flourishing with a decisive presence in all the 31 dioceses and four major mission centers of the Syro Malabar Church in India, the United States of America, Australia, UK, Europe, and Canada. The SMYM champions and lives out its mission following the faith traditions and liturgical practices of the Syro Malabar Church for the Kingdom of God and Society, to strive for the integral development of the youth and to bind together the youth of the Syro Malabar Church. SMYM programmes and activities are aimed at the holistic development of youth aligning its members with the religious and social causes of the Church.
I am pleased to recognize that the leaders of the SMYM of the Eparchy of Mississauga have raised themselves to the needs of the time. As we are struggling with COVID-19, they have taken time, investment and serious effort to build a brand new website, an effective tool. It is looking really good. Congratulations!
This website servers as a Helpline with essential information to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Building a new website is never an easy process you have probably feeling quite exhausted,
but hopefully really proud of the end result. You have committed to providing ongoing value to those you serve and
have space to publish and store useful content on your site. I believe, this documented strategy will make a difference.
In the name of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Team and the entire Eparchy of Mississauga I congratulate the SMYM IT technical
team and all those who have worked hard behind this task!
May our Merciful Father bless us, our Eparchy and the whole world!
Yours cordially in Christ,
+Mar Jose Kalluvelil
Bishop of Mississauga
